#53 What Would Jesus Do? 2/01/26
Years ago, a very popular phrase within Christian culture was WWJD? In other words, they were asking, when confronted with a challenging decision, "What would Jesus do?" Many would say one thing, and others would say something else. The only answer that I believe for certain is He would have prayerfully asked the Father.
Jesus frequently said such things as "I do nothing but what I see the Father do," "It is not I but the Father within who does a good work," "I am doing the will of my Father who sent me," "These things that I do also shall you do and even greater things," and "All who do the will of my Father are my brother, sister."
So, the answer is that He would prayerfully seek God the Father and His righteousness. Then. according to the inspiration from His Father, He would do accordingly. A premier proclamation was "Not my will, but Thy will be done."
#54 Thank You God! 2/08/26
Please consider:
1 Thes 5:16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
"Thank you God, thank you God, thank you God." Often out loud and most frequently quietly, this is my prayerful response. It is in alignment with our encouragement to pray continually, and it is in alignment with our encouragement to give thanks in all circumstances. When things are going well, it is obvious to many. When things are not going well, it is not so obvious to many.
My experience has been that when things are not going well and I utter this prayer, I attain a sense of calm. In that calm, I am more receptive to God's inspiration. In that inspiration, I am less likely to be entangled in emotional ways of the flesh. I am then more likely do the right thing in the right time and in the right way. Otherwise, things can easily get worse and not better. It is so simple and yet so profoundly effective.
#55 Treasures in Heaven 2/15/26
Please consider:
Matt 6:19 "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Apparently, treasures in heaven are matters of the heart. Matters of the heart are paramount for a Godly life of good deeds. Matters of the heart have significantly to do with Fruit of the Spirit. A Godly heart allows us to do the right thing in the right time and in the right way. In essence, it allows us, with ease and power, to do good deeds. It is also possible to do good deeds by strength of the flesh; however, this is merely fleshly attempts to accomplish godly objectives. Although the good deed may be the right thing, it may not be at the right time or in the right way. So, the deed in and of itself does not qualify as a heavenly treasure.
It is not merely our theology that is important. It is the condition of our heart as is expressed clearly in 1 Corinthians 13 and James 3:13.
1 Cor 13:1 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Jas 3:13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. 14 But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. 15 Such "wisdom" does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. 16 For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.
17 But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. 18 Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.
#56 Recurring Holy Days 2/22/2026
Christmas was not only a historical event, but it can also be and should be a recurring personal event. When we are born again and Saved, we experience a newness of Life. At that time, we have died to some, but not all our old fleshly ways. Easter was not only a historical event, but it can also and should be a recurring personal event. As we die daily to our old fleshly ways and are resurrected with a further anointing of the Spirit of God, we are in the process of being Sanctified. Consequently, there is the recurring process of death and rebirth as Christ is being formed in us. This is not merely a mental process; it is the purification of our hearts. It is inclusive of but not limited to:
• forgiving as in Matt 6:14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
• praying without ceasing
• seeking God first and His Righteousness
• Eating of the Tree of Life that builds up, not merely eating of the tree of knowledge which puffs up
